GEARBOXES FOR 2CV etc

Gearboxes can be recondition or supply on an exchange basis.  Each box is stripped, cleaned, new bearings on input shaft and rearmost of mainshaft, others replaced if required.   New synchromesh snap rings on 2nd & 3rd and new triaxe gasgets.  Gears are re-shimmed back to original specification. There is a 6 month warranty with each unit.

STANDARD BOXES                             

2CV4, 2CV6, Dyane 4 & 6, Ami 6 & 8, mehari

Don't forget to mention year of car and disc or drum brake - i.e. I need to know if you require long splines or short splines on the input shaft.

 

MIXED RATIO BOXES

Gears can be mixed to suit your specific needs :-

1). Short box - this is a mix of dyane gears & 2CV diff.   In effect a dyane but 6.5% lower in every gear. Suits vans and other vehicles that are regularly heavily laden or tow a trailer.

2). Long box - this is a mix of 2CV gears & dyane diff.   In effect a 2CV6 but 6.5% taller in every gear.   Suits 2CV's with very strong motors and kit cars.

3). Five box - this uses parts from an ak400 or mehari box.   It is lower ratio than a 'short' box but is nice because 3rd is close to top and top is exactly in between that of a 2CV4 and a 2CV6.   Suits vans and other vehicles that are regularly heavily laden or tow a trailer.  Beware - top is low so car will easily rev out when unladen. eg if you want to cruise at 70mph your engine will be doing 5900 rpm. Thats fast and not a good idea to sustain.   Economy strangely enough unaffected!!
